The day's are shorter and the temperature has dropped - it must be fall! I always seem to forget how incredibly cold this city gets. It doesn't help that we are constantly exposed to the elements (not having a car and instead biking/walking everywhere). Even Teia is getting a taste of the Amsterdam life!
Teia is growing up so fast! She already weighs 10 lbs, is starting to smile and loves to cuddle constantly! Indy and Teia have become fast friends! She enjoys her play dates and attends yoga, baby massage and pilates classes with me! She also continues to love her skype dates and visitors from time to time!
Sharon came out to visit and help us out with Teia for two weeks! I will always remember her meeting Teia for the first time - such a wonderful and special moment for us all! Sharon experienced her first "Grandma" babysitting while we went out to celebrate Kirk's 33rd birthday! We partied with many friends at one of our favorite bars - Cafe Genootschap der Geneugten - otherwise known as GdG!
Speaking of Kirk - a co-worker came across his picture with Snoop Dogg on sole collector (blog about sneakers). Check it out here: http://solecollector.com/
On Saturday the Amsterdam Mama's group put on it's 2nd Spooky Buggy Parade. The parade took place in Vondel Park where we met up with many little ones dressed up in their Halloween gear and walked around the park with a final pit stop at a cafe! Teia dressed up as a pea in a pod!
On a sunny, but cold, Sunday we made our way to Haarlem. Haarlem is a very small city west of Amsterdam with incredible charm, great shopping and plenty of good eats! While the spelling is a little different, New York's Harlem is named after the Dutch original.
Kirk's work put together pumpkin carving with all of W+K's many families. Teia couldn't participate with the actual carving, but she did manage to wear her outfit again, and meet some new fans! Everyone loves to hold and cuddle her!
Our final Halloween Bash was hosted by our friend Erica and her new business partner Li. They formed a catering, entertaining, party planning group called Licka. The food was excellent, the decor incredibly creative and it was just an overall blast!
The next day Teia attended her first birthday party for her friend Lexy! Erin and Chad put on a wonderful 1st birthday for their sweet girl! I adored the theme - Dr. Seuss - Oh The Places You'll Go!!!
Kirk then spent the next week in Istanbul for meetings. While he had been there before on holiday when we went a year and a half ago, going for work was a different experience. Fortunately one of the main purposes of the trip was to get an 'immersion' into Turkey and Istanbul, so they took him around a ton of sites in the city - many that he didn't see when there as a tourist. Overall a very good trip with lots of kebabs.
That's it for now - we are looking forward to Thanksgiving eats and Christmas markets right around the corner!
